Who is Flipkart CEO

 Kalyan Krishnamurthy has been named the new chief executive officer of Walmart-backed Flipkart.

Krishnamurthy holds an MBA degree from the Asian Institute of Management, Philippines.

Krishnamurthy, a former Tiger Global executive has joined Flipkart in May 2013 as a chief financial officer at Flipkart online services. In 2016 he was the head of the Category Design Organisation.

He Forced out 12 Senior leaders many of them C-level executives, including logistics head Saikiran Krishnamurthy, chief financial officer Sanjay Baweja, product chief Surojit Chatterjee and, most controversially, chief operating officer Nitin Seth. Krishnamurthy’s inner circle includes senior directors Smrithi Ravichandran, Sandeep Karwa, and Ayyappan R., and vice presidents Amitesh Jha, Shoumyan Biswas, and Manish Kumar. 

Kalyan may not have a traditional approach to running the company, but his style has worked for Flipkart and helped it to improve its performance and gain market share.

Former executive

The year 2016 was considered to be a challenging year for Flipkart because of slow revenue growth, stiff competition from Amazon, and valuation markdowns from investors.

We are a growth company and that is by far the single biggest agenda. Execution, growth, and innovation are the buzzwords for 2017.
